This unit is designed to develop the analytical skills that a high-school student need for a more in-depth study of literary texts. He will learn about rhythm, alliteration, rhyme, poetic inversion, voice and line lengths and endings. He will examine poems that do not rhyme and learn how to compare and contrast poetry. By the end of this unit the student should be able to have an awareness of the role of analysis to inform appreciation and understanding of poetry, and to be able to identify and discuss the main analytical concepts used in analysing poetry. This course takes 20 hours.

This unit is designed to develop the analytical skills you need for a more in-depth study of literary texts. You will learn about narrative events and perspectives, the setting of novels, types of characterisation and genre.
The resource takes 20 hours of study but the teacher can choose wich parts of the unit he wants to use, or his students to review.
