Sites of the Fogliano survey (Pontine region, Central Italy), site classification and a comment on the diagnostic artefacts from prehistory to the Roman period

This paper describes the methodology and results of a detailed study of the field data and artefact
samples collected in the Fogliano surveys, dealing with both the lithic and the ceramic periods. The backbone of
this study is formed by a site catalogue and an accompanying lithic and sherd catalogue describing all diagnostic
materials collected in the survey. The study has resulted in a more precise diachronic perspective on the general
developments described in the previous reports.

This paper attempts a general assessment of the contributions included in this volume. We examine three main kinds of problems related to the research on social inequality in Iberian Late Prehistory. These are theoretical, empirical and interpretative. Among the first, we comment upon the very definition of social inequality, the taxonomical categories employed in social evolution, as well as the main factors causing inequality, with special attention to labour force mobilisation.

A Pre-history of Rational Decision Theory. From Adam Smith to the First Experiments.

Comment on 'The invention of technology: Prehistory and cognition'

Technical study of tools made from unknapped stone from early
times to the Neolithic has allowed the identification of marks
found on these tools and inferences from them about the actions
they involved. On the basis of this analysis, a schema is proposed
for the evolution of technical actions. It seems that we
have here a concrete example of a mechanism of technical innovation
and that this mechanism may be simply an illustration of
a more general schema of the evolution of technology.

Zastavlja tudi vprašanje o prvotni povezavi med jezikovnimi skupnostmi, v katerih se je leksem razvil v glavni izraz za pojem ‘govoriti’, in sicer v južnoslovanskem pa tudi v širšem slovanskem kontekstu.

CRANIAL DEFORMATION AS THE CAUSE OF DEATH FOR A CHILD FROM THE CHILLON RIVER VALLEY, PERU

Two small mummy bundles, found in a tomb at the Chillon River Valley, Lima Plains, Peru exist in the collections of the Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They were donated to the collections at the beginning of the 20th century. A multidisciplinary team is now curating and studying them. CT scans confirmed both skeletons were of individuals less than one year old at death. One of the bundles is intact and will be preserved and displayed. The other one was partly decomposed and the authors received permission to unwrap it to analyze the bones in details.
