In the first State of Logistics in 2004 the need for measurement and revitalisation of basic infrastructure in South Africa' dual economy was accentuated. The process of addressing these needs has started with the release of the National Freight Logistics Strategy, which delineates a comprehensive development framework, as well as Spoornet's growth plans for recapitalisation. This survey reflects the supply-chain innovation of the chemicals, processed foods and logistics service provider industries.
